To make it simpler for banks and other financial institutions to collect debts from their clients, debt recovery tribunals were established. For different debt collection agencies, this might not be helpful. DRTs were established following the 1993 enactment of the Recovery of Debts Due to Banks and Financial Institutions Act (RDBBFI). Instances of DRT orders are appealed to the Debt Recovery Tribunal Act (DRAT). DRTs may take cases from banks for challenged debts that total more than Rs 10 lakhs.
