Working of Floating Ball Valve:

Floating ball valve gets its name from thehallow, ball like sphere which floats inside the valve’s body. That iscompressed between two flexible seats while suspended in liquid. Duringoperation, floating ball vall just float slightly downstream, which cause thesealing mechanism compressed under the ball. This ball floats to the metal stemto seal it, which provides the failsafe under the design.

The stem in the valve’s body connects to the topof the ball and allows the ball to rotate 90 degrees. Also this stem allows theball to move laterally when the pressure arises upstream acts on it, while thedownstream seat improves the tightness of the valve’s seal. When liquid flowsin either direct this operation allows the valve to get closed.
