Tiruchirappalli (also known as Tiruchi or Trichy), is a city in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu . It is the fourth largest city and urban agglomeration in the state. Tiruchirappalli is one of the oldest inhabited cities in India, and its recorded history is said to have begun as long ago as the 3rd century BC. The city has been ruled by huge dynasties in the south such as the Cholas, Pandyas and many others who have shaped its culture that exists to this day.
